The Left Ruins Everything

In the words of Harvard professor Steven Pinker — an atheist and a liberal — because of their embrace of leftist ideology, “universities are becoming laughing stocks of intolerance.”

Universities developed because of ideals and priorities promoted by Western Civilization, but, as Dr. Jordan B. Peterson put it, professors “have made it their life’s mission to undermine Western Civilization itself.”

Many universities are even removing their Western Civilization courses altogether.

Modern universities have replaced the pursuit of excellence with the pursuit of diversity.

Universities now offer courses such as gender studies that are primarily focused on promoting a leftist agenda.

Students are now demanding “safe spaces” from everything from conservative speakers to Halloween costumes.

In 2016, the Guggenheim Museum in New York featured a pure-gold working toilet. The name of the exhibit was “America.”

Traditionally, artists have pursued certain standards of excellence and have built on the foundation of previous masters. Modern culture largely rejects artistic standards and precedent.

In 2013, a statue of a balloon dog sold for $58.4 million at auction, breaking the record for a living artist.

“The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” had an immense, diverse viewership in part because it was deliberately apolitical, a show that all Americans could enjoy.

“To anyone, liberal or conservative, who grew up watching Johnny Carson on late night TV, the descent from Carson to Colbert is as breathtaking as it is heartbreaking,” writes Dennis Prager.

Late-night show hosts appear to have given up on Republican viewers, focusing their attention on appealing to left-leaning viewers.

In 2014, the Presbyterian Church USA accepted same-sex marriage.

The Presbyterian Church USA has also promoted anti-semitism and abortion.

The liberal leadership of the Methodist Church is rapidly losing members in first world nations while facing opposition from conservative and evangelical members in Africa.

The Catholic Church is experiencing an attack from within of its traditional teachings on sex and marriage.

Dennis Prager argues that, beginning with Karl Marx, the “messianic impulse” in Judaism has become secularized, resulting in “secular substitutes such as Marxism, humanism, socialism, feminism, and environmentalism.”

Left-wing professors often prioritize an author’s race and gender over the author’s contributions to literary tradition.

In 2016, the English department at the University of Pennsylvania recently took down the portrait of the greatest English-language writer who ever lived, William Shakespeare, because he did not represent “diversity.”

Some students are requesting trigger warnings while reading classic literature.

Leftist professors question the value of the rich literary heritage of the past, including such great medieval works as Dante’s “Divine Comedy” and Chaucer’s “Canterbury Tales.”

Though college campuses have traditionally been places that prioritize protecting the free expression of ideas, leftists professors and activists are actively trying to minimize free speech.

Anti-free speech activists want to take college speech policies and impose them on the rest of the country.

In 2018, Facebook labeled PragerU’s most recent videos as “hate speech,” hiding them from their followers.

The Left keeps promoting the argument that America is racist despite massive progress in racial equality.

As Harvard sociologist Orlando Patterson puts it, America “is now the least racist white-majority society in the world; has a better record of legal protection of minorities than any other society, white or black; offers more opportunities to a greater number of black persons than any other society, including all those of Africa.”

Increasingly, public school teachers are told not to refer to their students as “boys” or “girls,” just “students.”

In New York City, parents no longer have to check off male or female on their newborn’s birth certificate. They can now select “x.”

The Left doesn’t make their own version of the Boy Scouts, they attempt to reshape existing institutions.
